Random Thoughts On Car Advertising That Annoys Me

Yeah, I’ve been told my 93 Festiva has all the wiring in place if I want to add rear defroster, rear wiper, power mirrors etc. Its cheaper to have them all come off the line with the wiring in place because 80% of people order these options, and then they just cap off the wires on the few cars sold “stripped”. Why I would want to put effort into installing power mirrors on a 20+ year old car that is barely roadworthy is another matter. I’m happy if it starts and runs.

Have to agree,as I said before it costs the manus more to produce a few strippers, then to go ahead and make the majority fairly nice.

@db4690 - I’m sure I left out a bunch of stuff that had to be added. But my point is - is that Nissan had already installed a lot of what’s needed at the factory (like duct work, and cold air exchange…and even the AC button on the HVAC controls. It made installed the rest at the dealer a lot easier then trying to retrofit AC into a vehicle where AC wasn’t even an option.

I apologize for my poor choice of a couple words (“everything” and “plumbing”). The Mazda did have the compressor mounting bracket and wiring harness. If I remember correctly (iffy at best) the HVAC selector was a rotary knob which had the useless a/c position.
