Iām SO glad that when Iāve crafted a response, and click on āPREVIEW REPLYā that the reply which I wish to preview vaporizes into the cyber void. This is, of course, sarcasm. (Oh, I wonāt be previewing it.)
I canāt find my post from early May. It was very detailed and I need to print the information so I can go to the dealership to complain - another serpentine belt broken in 3 months and they wonāt look any further than replacing the belt.
It would be helpful to be able to search by Posterās name, or even by date or month of posting, and it would be nice to get back the feature that tags posts you are interested in looking at again.

Yep, everytime I change boards I have to log in. But in a week it wonāt be a problem, becasue 1 the board will fixed or 2 I wonāt be here anymore. Its up to the web monkeys to decide if I stay or if I go.

I was not a frequent poster on the old board, but I always checked in a couple times a day to see what was going on.
Since this new board came on line, the first week I checked in daily, then maybe a couple times a week, now its been a couple weeks since checking in. Nothing here causes me to come back.
I frequent a lot of forums, but I have yet to see one as unfriendly or confusing as this one has become. I believe the designers of this board must be a cousins of the new car design engineersā¦ Make something so confusing and hard to work with as you can.
Iām sure my absence isnāt going to make or break this board, but I see no inclination it will improve. Seems the powers that be are determined to keep this mess on line. Good luck folks!
I have found plenty of web sites which, I think, are much more cumbersome than this one. Itās not easy to navigate wikipedia.com. It, at first glance, appears easy; but, itās not! I tried to post a question on about.com and was unsuccessful. It isnāt clearly (or, unclearly) marked in a navigatory manner. Of course, I could spend some of my non-valuable time and finally get there. The biggest hindrance to navigating most sites is getting past all the advertising traps that are place at every turn. This site isnāt as bad with the advertising traps; but it still has them because itās setup to profit cars.com.

If you read the bulk of the comments, we are NOT talking about the website. Weāre talking about the bulletin board. I have not seen another bulletin board more buggy and user unfriendly. The sad thing is that the old board was far superior to this board. Unfortunately, I think cartalk canāt find/fund enough moderators and doesnāt have enough funds to buy a decent bulletin board software.
This new forum is very confusing compared to the former one. I donāt even know how to post a questions and the search feature leaves something to be desiredāhow do I get into threads!? I believe you when you say this gives us more features, but it is definitely NOT user-friendlyā¦
I have always come to cartalk to ask important car repair questions. I have never had a problem, but now, they canāt find my login, I canāt find my way around the forum, and it is totally NOT user-friendly. Iāve given it a try and Iām sorry to say, Iāve given up, I hope when I come back in the future, this is easier/better or the old board is back!
It is missing the first time you try to post in a given login session. After you have posted once in your login session, the cursor appears.
After you post, you are taken to the end of the list of posts, whether your post is on that page or not.
Ignore previous post. The cursor appears in some replies, and is missing in others.
Has anyone mentioned the annoying feature of the security window showing up every time you cahnge pages? It says you will see both secure and non secure info and do you want to?
This goes on if you are logged in but not if you just post annoymously.

Correction; the security window is on now all the time and you dont need to be logged in at all to see it every page. This must be new as of July?
This is a browser feature which you can turn off locally.

Itās been nice, Iāll check back time to time. I wish this new board would have worked out, but it hasnāt and it seem we have been shown the door. I say that because we haven?t had ANY real response from the web monkeys.
I may have found a place to start the unofficial car talk BBS, if it checks out and if I get a few volunteers to help out, I?ll start the unofficial car talk BBS. I would need some volunteers to keep trolls and such away.
It?s been fun, I?ve really enjoyed it here, but after standing around and waiting and waiting, I?m getting the hint. I know we, all of us, are not really that important here, I say that because the NEWEST post from Keith Hopper I could find was from 06/06/2007 6:01:54 PM.
