Problems with 2000 Nissan Xterra

I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra with about 100,000 miles. When I start out and get between 45 and 55 miles an hour, it sounds like I am going over speed bumps in the rear end. I noticed that it seems to come on more when I let up on the gas and barely gas it again. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Sounds to me like you might need a new U-joint on the rear driveshaft… Its either that or your tires are suddenly and severely unbalanced…which is unlikely. I have been through several U-joint failures and they can be pretty scary…if the U-Joint is bad you should be able to quickly figure it out by grabbing the driveshaft and looking for any play in it…pay attn to the rear U-joint.

Others suspects could be the tires…which I dont think it is… Or an issue with the brakes possibly.

But I’d go out and look for a U-joint failure real quick if I were you.
