Recently my Power steering pump on a 1994 Aerostar 3.0-liter, was screeching and hot enough to melt the belt. When I removed the pump, I noticed that there was ice in the sending line-I was told that was not unusual.
I replaced the pump- but the same thing happened with the new pump- loud screeching and the pulley was hot to the touch.
I had the car towed to a mechanic who tells me the Power steer rack is bad since the steering wheel cannot be turned,(I don’t remember this being the case before the car was towed.). Last year I had the Rack and Pinion replaced.
I don’t know what to believe. Could it be just clogged lines?
