How much should it cost to replace the power steering pump on a '96 Oldsmobile Ciera? I’ve gotten a quote of $745 for parts and labor, and that seems awfully high. The part itself is about $350. Also, how crucial is it to get it fixed right away? Could I be doing more damage by driving it?
Get a second or third quote. As to how important it is to fix right away and if you are doing more damage to it by driving it, it depends on what is wrong with it.
Thanks. I got a second quote that was much much lower. $311 to replace the power steering pump and drive belt and do a fluid flush. I was worried since it was so much lower than the first place, but the first quote was from a dealer. Seems to be working fine now.
