MY “DOOR AJAR” SENSOR FOR MY 2007 G6 COMES ON FREQUENTLY, PREVENTING THE DOORS FROM LOCKING AUTOMATICALYY & INTERIOR LIGHTS FROM COMING ON WHEN DOORS ARE OPENED. MY MECHANIC SAYS THE PART HAS BEEN ON BACK ORDER. I GOOGLED & SEE FREQUENT MENTION OF THIS PROBLEM FROM 2005 TO 2009 MODELS, ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Oops, The “Door Ajar” Lights, But Does The Door Chime Sound When It’s In Park?
Did they have to order a door lock/latch with the “sender” switch in it?
When there is a problem with a part like this, increasing the demand, a couple of things can happen. The supply may not keep up with the demand. Also, the original part probaly has to be redesigned (or has been, already) so that the superseded replacement part doesn’t suffer the same malady. This is what creates the back-order situation.
Sometimes all you can do is be patient. Did somebody at a GM dealer “search” other dealers far and wide to see if the newest version of this part is sitting on a dealer’s shelf someplace? This sometimes happens, even with back-ordered parts.
