Part on a 1987 Ford Ranger

I have a 1987 Ford Ranger V6 2.9L Regular Cab. I have no idea what this part is can anyone tell me what this is it is under the vehicle underneath the driver’s seat.

The evap charcoal canister on my Ford truck looks pretty similar to that. I’m guessing it is the evap system canister. If so, one of those tubes will go towards the gas tank, and the other toward the engine.

It’s a fuel reservoir, it may or may not have a filter in it, it is there to hold extra fuel for the high pressure pump so it stays primed when pumps are off.

You have 2 fuel pumps in a 1987, one of Fords better ideas.

A low pressure pump in the tank and a high pressure pump in the frame rail just ahead of the reservoir.

A couple years later they put the high pressure pump in the tank.
