I had a 2008 Toyota Highlander with the 2.4 2AZ-FE engine come in for service and again 4.5 qts would have overfilled the engine. I’m wondering if Toyota made the dipstick in error making the full mark more towards the end than more at the top? If this is common on all 2.4 liter engines from 2007 and up maybe the dipstick is marked wrong. Another thing I thought of is that the previous generation of Toyota engines from 2001 to 2006 hold only 4 qts of oil where the new generation calls for 5w-20 and for 4.5 qts of oil when there’s not that much difference between the two.
haven’t read the other posters yet but my 2.4L AZFE engine requires 4 qts (including filter change). It also says 5w30 not 5w20. Did toyota switch???
did toyota change from 5w30 to 5w20 oil? I have an accord that has 5w20 but my camry (2005) calls for 30 oil.
According to the owner’s manual the 3.5L Camry takes 5w30 and the 2.4L takes either 5w20 or 0w20.
