OBD-ll codes retireval 2002 Taurus

I understand there is a way to retrieve the OBD-ll codes on cars without a scanner. Do you know the procedure for a 2002 Taurus? Where can I access a list of the codes and their meaning?

I know that on some OBDII Crysler vehicles the codes can be retrieved by turning ignition switch from Off to Run three times. But I never heard this working on a Ford. You need to take it to a local AutoZone to plug in a code reader to retrieve the codes. Or buy an inexpensive/generic code reader.

As far as code definitions just insert “OBDII CODES” into your search engine and you’ll have a number of sites to check out.
