So I found a car I like. SUV I guess, actually. Here’s the link. Can I get opinions on it and the price? At 2 different dealers near me. This one is a 2021 GMC Terrain SLT 14K miles $24,000. They knocked $500 off the price. Another contender is a 2019 GMC Terrain Denali almost 42K miles for $24,500. Haven’t negotiated yet on price so don’t know if/what they’d knock off. I think the better one all around is the SLT. What say you??

Another Q that Ididn’t know how/where to post it, so I’m adding it here.
As far as a warranty on the SLT - don’t know what they offer because we didn’t talk about it - is there a general one that’s good to get? I got one on my Mazda when bought new and it saved A LOT of money when stuff went wrong or that needed touch ups, like screwy paint in one area, another was something to do with the engine, if I remember right. Anyway, it was worth the $2K (?) I paid.
Dealer gives a 6 month/6K mile bumper to bumper warranty. Said if anything goes wrong within those parameters, they’ll fix it absolutely free. I won’t pay a thing. Other than that I don’t think there’s any other kind. I don’t know if there’s different warranties, like 6 mo/6K miles, 12 mo/10K miles, etc. If they do have different ones like that, which would be recommended that I get? I know the prices would be different, but I think it’s a good idea to get one, considering it’s a used car. And it was absolutely helpful on a brand new car.
Suggest to see what other’s have said here about the GMC Terrain in past posts. Click on the forum search icon, upper right this page, then type ‘gmc terrain’
See if the 21 is an off lease from the dealer with service records.
Sold and serviced there according to the carfax. Lease return.

Why don’t you waste your own time and if you find anything useful then you can link it.

I would go for the off lease myself.

Don’t know who that comment about wasting your own time is aimed at, but if it was me, I DID look at all those posts. They’re mostly all about much earlier cars, and nothing in all those posts really relate to the cars I’m interested in. And especially since I don’t even have one yet, haven’t driven for months/years to see if there are/will be any problems.
Not aimed at you at all . George is always telling people to use that search function . There are quite a few of us here that just think the search function is a waste of time 99 % of the time .
Also would choose the off lease 2021 because there are a lot of people who turn the vehicles in at the end of the lease .

I don’t see anything wrong with the slt, good service history for mileage and serviced by the same dealer.

Another one for the 2021 SLT, looks like a good buy and history on it…
Also another one for not using the useless search thing that George is always telling people to go to…

The Denali is a higher trim level and you may not want to pay for the Denali features. I’d go test drive the SLT first. If it passes your test drive start thinking about buying it. I would’t be put off by the low mileage. I bought a 2010 base Cobalt in 2012 with only 10,000 miles. It also had full CarFax service info. Great car and served my daughter for 8 years until she bought a new CRV.

I have a slightly used 09 if she is feeling nostalgic…

@davesmopar, how long has the Cobalt been leaking gas?
Oh it has new (10months old) front to back pressure and return fuel lines, just has that stupid P0717 code I am not pulling the transmission and going into to replace the internal wiring harness, it drives normal right now… long story already in another thread…
Good news is it never leaked a drop until it was stored for 5 years, then the lines rotted out and leaked all the gas out, put gas in it to start it and found the leak…
I think the new tires, also from 10 months ago (hardly driven) maybe worth more than the car…
My apology’s remodeler, we tend to go off topic a lot on here…
“My apology’s remodeler, we tend to go off topic a lot on here…” So I noticed.

Glad it wasn’t for me. Thanks for the advice.
I’m really sold on the SLT. Dealer is touting the Denali’s “appeal” for buyers due to the better bells and whistles. But it’s already 5 years old and I’m not planning on selling it. As I indicated, I’m hoping whatever I get will last at least 8-10 years, and by then who will pay for the Denali’s “appeal” when it’s 13-15 years old? (It’s already 5 years old, so add another 8-10 years and it’s 13-15 years old)
Only thing that really bothers me is this dealer is old-school (like me) and has taken the time to understand, empathize with, and relate to any issues I have - I’m sure some of you remember me stating what they are when first posting. He’s a real nice guy and has really done everything he can to accomodate me these past 3 or so weeks, and I feel horrible going to another dealer, like I’m betraying him. He even let me take the Denali over the weekend to drive and return on Monday. So I feel ike a real d**k returning it and going somewhere else.
I asked if he has any SLTs and he said no, the Denali is the only Terrian model car he has across their whole inventory.
Think I can do this in order to let him have the sale?: Ask if he can buy the SLT from the other dealer and then I can buy it from him. This way he gets the sale and I get the car I want without going somewhere else. Yes? No?
Sorry about my post being posted 2x. Don’t know why that happened. I only posted it once in reply to jtsanders, and it doubled again???
Sure if you’re willing to pay two markups. He’s not going to sell it to you for what he bought it for… then you might as well just buy the Denali.
