It wasnât the lack of a turn signal that caused that crash.
That is the reason I have always said, if you see someone coming up on you really fast, DONâT change lanes, stay in YOUR lane, the driver that is speeding has already calculated going around you!!! (most of the time)
That is especially when it is a motorcycleâŠ
Speeding aside, if the Jeep(?) had not moved over the BMW would have made the lane change and went around the Jeep, missing the Jeep AND the vehicle with the rear facing camâŠ
The saying 2 wrongs donât make a right comes to mind here⊠Always let the fast driver go around you cause now even if the BMW could have moved back into his lane, at that point he has the vehicle in front of the Jeep to deal with nowâŠ
This is coming from someone that has driven fast as well as discussed this with many others that drive fast⊠STAY in your lane!!!
Iâm not talking about someone doing 10-15 mph over, and there is always exceptionsâŠ
And NO, I do not condone driving fast!!!
I also dislike speeders. Though I donât tell people that I prefer to obey laws.
Speeding caused this crash, why even mention turn signal?
Is it âuncoolâ or something, to say so?
âŠan example of someone learning to drive in a stolen BMW.
Motor vehicle theft isnât often reported on the news but is quite common.
Got to CrimeMapping dot com to see if your area is monitored for crime statistics.
Below is an example of St. Louis during the last 7 days, each car icon represents a vehicle theft reported.
Had lane #4 vehicle signaled, the speeding car would have abandoned plans to use open lane #5 which would become occupied. Or braked before passing on the right shoulder - the only alterative dolt left himself.
Best to do as Davesmopar. â⊠DONâT change lanes âŠâ
The cause of the accident was speeding, probably doing 40 mph over the speed limit. Itâs that simple.
Well there is driving fast and driving fast asleep. The guy that was coming up behind me fast one morning was asleep. I managed to get his attention and saw his startled face in my mirror. Iâm not sure if I would have gone right or left but there is no way I would have just let him ram me at 70 mph.
If you werenât in the process of turning off the road when sleepy came up behind you, then legally you have the right to self preservation by any means..!
Four lane interstate. Limited options.
Whenever Iâm driving down I-93 or Rt 128 (aka I-95) NOT during rush-hour traffic - this happens all the time. There will always be several cars (not all at once) driving well above the speed limit or the prevailing speed of 70mph. They like to weave in and out of cars. They are 99% of the problem. The other 1% are the drivers that love to drive in that left lane (many at below the speed limit). Now everyone has to go around them.
You tube has evidence of poor drivers. I seen it.
That is so NOT TRUE. I canât even begin to tell you of the number of times I have given a signal to move right so that a faster car could pass me on the left. Bare in mind that I am a fast driver, not like the speeder in the video, but I drive a little faster than about 90% of the drivers on the road so I do spend quite a bit of time in the left lane. If a driver wants to go faster than me, I will not hold them up, Iâll let them get that ticket I probably so richly deserve.
In almost every case, when I give a turn signal and move to the right, the driver that is gaining on me will also move to the right (usually not giving a signal) and then suddenly have to swerve back to the left. In most cases, the faster driver is not going that much faster than me and I see them coming in enough time so neither of us has to do anything quickly. My turn signal will have been on for several seconds before I start moving over so I donât know why this happens, but it happens a lot.
If I get caught by surprise by a really fast moving vehicle, then I donât do anything sudden. When I do get surprised, it is by someone doing well over 100 mph, and I mean well over.
Several time I have given space to someone with their turn signal on, they did not change lanes, driver simply did not cancel their turn signal.
I think in the 80s Cadillac made the turn signal noise in the cabin to increase in volume the longer it is left on. That is one of those thing I would like on every vehicle.
Thatâs referred to as an âeventual turn or lane changeâ.
It may happen at some unspecified time in the future.

Usually it is a left turn signal that remains on until they turn rightđ
Just saw a driver do that last night.
Years ago I was listening to a comedian talking about older drivers like his mom. âShe gets in the car and makes sure the left turn signal is on before she drives out of the driveway.â
