Somehow I doubt that you actually are ever calm and thoughtful.
Plus my relatives must live in a different Indiana than the one you live in because they don’t have the problems you do.
Heh heh heh. Before he died, my brother in laws dad played cards daily with a group at the local legion. A town of about 500. They finally got so tired of his political comments, they voted him off the island to let him cool off for a month or two.
We get together with a group of mainly retired teachers once a month. I usually just shut up and let them spew the party line. They usually complain about not enough money not stopping to think a good portion of it goes to non teaching staff and programs. I did say that I didn’t like any of the governors except perpitch and thought the wrestler was what both parties deserved. Then there was 1948 when Humphrey and freeman joined forces to clean the party up. They are both dead and no one has stepped up again from both sides. Minnesota is a mess.
I am very calm and thoughtful most of the time.
They probably are educated people and probably live somewhere like Bloomington where the people are decent.
Rick, I suggest you chill out at work and apologize to your colleagues and supervisors
If you’re not careful, your supervisors will starf the process to get you canned

It’s entirely possible that they have already started a paper trail in his personnel file, so the sooner that he calms down and stops ranting, the more secure his job will be.
My job is secure. Around here most people are on some kind of drugs. I have a Class A license. I used to do linework but I retired from that and drive a dump truck now.
Theres plenty of Class A driving jobs around here that they cant fill so you can “poop on the floor” and get away with it as ling as you dont put trucks in the ditch.
Here’s what I expect in my next car
-
I want a smart key/keyless ignition. My Mustang has it, my F-150 does not. I constantly kick myself for not shelling out the extra $$$ for higher trim level which (at the time) had this feature
-
I’d prefer a manual, but pickings are getting slimmer by the year
-I’d like a HUD with speed/RPM and navigation information.
-
The usual accouterments ; power windows, locks, driver’s seat, decent radio, keyless entry, etc.
-
I like the driving dynamics of RWD
-
If it has start/stop, it needs to be easily user-defeatable. My mom’s 2022 Highlander has the best implementation of this I’ve seen thus far. If you’re at a stop, if you put more pressure on the brake pedal beyond what it takes to stop/hold the car at a stop. The start-stop engages. If you don’t put that extra pressure on the brake pedal the engine continues to run.
-
Capless fuel filler, it’s a no brainer
-
Easy to use infotainment with no-cost Apple carplay/android auto.
-
A non-locked down ECU ; Looking at you Ford.
-
Good aftermarket support for customization/modification
My 98 Pathfinder and 05 4Runner didn’t have ashtrays.
TRUE self-driving will only happen when ALL the streets and roads are re-engineered to a standard that works well with “Self” driving.
I do not see states, municipalities, federal governments willing to spend the several multiples of trillions of dollars to make that happen.
Says who? Have you driven in Boston? There are self-driving (with and assisted driver) cars in Boston TODAY.
You should do some research on the technology and what’s involved.
The only self-driving tech I’ll trust is the WedWay people mover in Tomorrowland.
You don’t understand the technology. It’s going to happen.
MikeNH:
As long as the option to manually drive remains available.
I saw a few true self-driving cars . . . WITHOUT a driver . . . in Los Angeles a few days.
And our infrastructure is TERRIBLE
@ChrisTheTireWhisperer @Old-Days-Rick as much as you guys hate technology that’s even remotely modern, you can’t stop this from happening
“Rage against the machine” is ultimately nothing more than unproductive ranting.
Gotta rebuild Ukraine and the middle East you know!
This thread has progressed beyond Get off My Lawn to short trousers pulled up to mid-chest and sandals with black socks…
One of my colleagues likes to dress EXACTLY like that . . . I think they’re black compression socks which go past the bottom of his shorts🫣
The band lead, Tom Morello, recorded Highway to Hell with Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder as I mentioned in the favorite car song thread. That’s on a solo album.
