My Current Vehicle Purchasing Edicts

… which makes me wonder… if these technophobic people are currently in… let’s say… their 40s or 50s, what will they be like when they actually enter codger territory?

Same as they are now. They’ll just have more to complain about. Everyone should perfect their art.

Most technophobic people I know never did well in school - especially math and science. They’re scared of it because they don’t understand it. So they distrust anything they don’t understand.

If one of them worked well enough that IO was not required to have a license to drive it in NY state, I would buy it.

I got Cs in high school and introductory college math, but A pluses in English and Bs in history.

You would have hated chevy’s turbo-glide transmission of 1957 and the nearly identical Buick flight-pitch Dynaflow of 1959.

He has ranted about the dangers of cars that understeer, so he also would have hated the 1962 Buick. Buicks of that era were typical of front-engine RWD cars with pronounced understeer, but for 1962, they decided to move the engine even further forward, thus producing a truly lousy-handling car. They called this design “Advanced Thrust”.

I prefer (moderate) understeer to oversteer.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if somebody flags this post and gets it removed

probably the same person that got the image of the camel wearing boots removed

… or the person who had my image of a 1961 Ridgid calendar removed. It featured images of vises–which had been discussed in the thread–as well as a pic of a young woman in a swimsuit. She was showing less flesh than the typical teenage girl shows on a summer day.

Gee and I thought vdc was flagging me. Thin skin.

At any rate I had a 67 Buick wagon I bought to use during house construction. Paid $250 for it and another $500 plus to get it running good. Drove like a bat out of a cave. The thing is you don’t race these cars, you drive them and they are just fine. No handling problems at all loaded with lumber or cabinets or empty.

Ya wanna race these cars fine, but that was not why they were produced. I put new tires on it too. Danged if I know what size they were.

Of course you race them. It’s a perfect car for a demolition derby. Just think of all the fun you could have had after the construction was finished.

Yep mine was light blue metallic. The guy that owned it had a welder as evidenced on the bumpers. Deserted his wife and she was selling his stuff to make house payments. The girl at the dmv was a friend of hers and had no problem with the signature on the title. A willing seller and a willing buyer and a friend at the DMv

But they were attractive and very comfortable.

@Old-Days-Rick

Where’s the pictures of the 1989 Chevy Caprice?

Thanks

There’s actually a Caprice a few years older than yours in my neighborhood, a few streets away, but I haven’t ever seen it being driven

I am seeking out another 1999 to 2007 silverado. Basically it meeds to be a stick shift or a 4l60e. I will try to put a few back and hopefully that will last me long enough.

I am also considering a really nice caprice or crown vic. There is a nice Caprice I am interested in but its been converted into a “highrider”

I need a proper place to store these vehicles. I had a planned pole barn but with the tarriffs i dont know if thats possible any longer.

In my experience, peope who proclaim that they will “NEVER do xxxxxxx” frequently up contradicting themselves after a few years.

I may. Honestly if the owner of the company wasn’t a nut I’d consider a Tesler at this point.

They are complicated yet actually very simple.

The rental companies were selling them relatively cheaply. But I also believe they have connectivity.

I honestly want the roar of a V8 for as long as I can manage.
