Recently i discovered that when i run the fan (AC on or off) in my car it smells really bad-a smell similar to manure. I have been unable to locate the source of the problem. I live in south florida so having ac is a necessity! Please help
Most likely you have a build-up of mold or mildew in the passages of the HVAC system.
Lysol spray or special spray products made specifically for auto HVAC systems can help.
Spray liberally into the air intake on the cowl while the fan is running on low speed. Hopefully, this will kill the mold, but don’t be surprised if you have to do it more than once, being that you live in an area whose climate is perfect for the growth of mold spores.
There are also products at auto parts stores made to deal with this common AC smell problem. I’ve never used them, so I don’t know how well they work, but I know they exist.
