1982 500sl, imported from Canada: if the speedometer is in MPH, with KPH the secondary indicator, is that a sign that it was a replacement? I don’t see why a grey market car from Canada would have a speedo in MPH. I’m skeptical because the odometer reads 69k and not sure that is consistent with the seats/interior, etc.
I don’t think you can determine anything by this one single clue. Perhaps the car was originally sold in the USA and later resold in Canada. But I am willing to bet that any car that old has traveled a lot more than 69K mi/km. Yes, a replacement odometer is likely.
I know that the car was imported from Canada, as they did not make that model for the US at all.
