I am helping my brother in law replace the driver’s side seat memory control module, part # 15196668. I am seeing some talk on the web saying these have to be programmed to the vehicle. I am seeing some places on the web stating they sell a plug and play part. Are these VIN specific modules that have to be programmed just to keep the seat memory locations?
Assume it needs to be programmed with a dealer level scanner/
Tester
Yes sir, I saw that one. I don’t have the scanner to program it though. I was looking at this one that was cheaper that would need to be programmed also:
As well as this one which claims to be plug and play
It might ask for the VIN number at checkout…
When I ordered from FLagship One, at checkout I had to give them the VIN for both the ECM and the TCM on a 2009 Cobalt, both were plug-n-play, some of the other place said theirs had to be programmed…
I would start the buying process to find out wither way…
Apologies for my ignorance…
But is it possible to just reprogram the seat positions? Our Honda Pilot has memory seat positions, and it’s super easy to add/change positions. I’d think a Chevrolet would be about the same.
The instructions for replacing the power seat control module do not include any data entry requirements.
After installing the module, the seat must be synchronized using the power seat switches to calibrate full movement positions of tilt, recline and fore/aft seat positions into the module’s memory.
