There was a show re-aired on the History channel this weekend on the History of Cars in the US. Great show if you haven’t seen it. About 6+ hours long in several parts.

On the first segment they were talking about horses in NYC. They were shoveling over 2,000 tons of manure in NYC every single day. Over 300 horses a day would drop dead in the streets every day. Yea, cars have it’s own polluting problems, but horses are much worse (in a city environment).
