yes i have a 1992 chevy 1500 and my tranny is going out the mechanic said so i have to watch the tranny fluid… and i was wondering where the plug is on the outside of the tranny. i would appreciate the advice… where it is located and how to put fluid in it… thanks…
It’ll probably be about 2/3rds of the way up on the thing. It shouldn’t be too hard to find, though you might have to do some winding around some 4-wheel drive equipment if so equipped.
You’re also going to want a good quality boxed end wrench of a large size, generally about 24mm in my experience. Don’t try to do this with a crescent or you’ll round off the corners of the bung plug for certain.
It usually is about 2" behind the bell housing and about 3-4" up the side. If its metric, it will probably be a 24mm, if its SAE, it will be about a 7/8" hex. It could be on either side though.
