Hello, I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota Sport, 3.9 V6 and when I got in the truck this morning the truck was idling funny/rough, upon further inspection I noticed the oil pressure had plummeted and the truck was only idling at 500 rpms… Any ideas on what it would do this? Please let me know and Thanks.
The low idle is probably due to the throttle position sensor (TPS) being out of adjustment. It should be telling the computer that your foot is off the gas and to take control of the idle through the IAC. The IAC could also be at fault. Low idle usually will result in low oil pressure.
Try fresh spark plugs and an engine oil change. You might get a diagnostic scan done. Done right, it could tell how the idle air control (iac) reacts to inputs, output of the throttle position sensor (tps), et cetera (etc.). This would indicate if they are functioning correctly, or not.
