As for the transmission, I am not an auto guy at all but if the fluid and filters haven’t been changed, have them done. New fluid has new additives that might help. MAKE SURE TO USE WHAT MOPAR SUGGESTS! Autos are touchy to having the wrong fluid and you can ruin them.
A better filter is also a good suggestion. Do not use just the cheapest filter you can buy. Motorcraft is a good bet if you can find one that fits your truck which you should be able to do.
Seafoam is great stuff. Add it to the oil 10 miles from home, drive it home gently, and change the oil. I wouldn’t want to leave it in long term. You will break loose deposits inside the engine and you want to change that oil and the filter quickly after doing this.
A quality synthetic might help. I wouldn’t go too crazy with the viscosity but I have used Mobil 1 0W40 European in older engines with great luck. It works great in both hot and cold climates. The detergents will also clean out sludge over time and if oil passages are obstructed, they might clear up some.
You might also check out 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Problems, Defects & Complaints This isn’t the worst vehicle on this site but it has some problems.
You might choose just to drive it as it sits since you don’t use it all that much. Just keep the fluids maintained but I don’t think I would put any major work into this, considering it might need major engine and transmission service.

With such a primitive approach, I may achieve a trip to the 50’s. There I might encounter a physicist who could (in theory) assist in satiating certain interests through his/her early research-- (potentially) assisting my more significant travel needs which lie between 500M and at 13.7 billion light years away.
Unfortunately, said research would not bring adequate results for decades and at 66, I’ve not the time
