The cruise control buttons on the right side of the steering wheel on my '97 Ford Explorer Sport are loose. I have to hold them from underneath in order to use them. Can I use some type of glue or epoxy to secure them to the steering wheel?
I asked a Ford dealer in Mexico to fix it, but I don’t think they did anything.
I don’t want you to use glue of any kind to solve this problem. You should drive as if this car never had cruise control. You cannot fix this problem.
Check the back of the steering wheel, right behind the cruise control unit, for the heads of screws. The may have come loose.
Thanks. I’ll take a look. I don’t feel anything though when I feel under there.
OK…I won’t use glue. I do a lot of highway driving, so I need the cruise control. It was recalled last fall and the recall problem fixed. I just hold the unit in my hand when I push on the buttons, and it works fine.
