Im Big guy 6ft 400lbs,im having trouble finding a vehicle I can get in.When I try to get in,the roof line is at my ear level and my neck wont bend that far.Anyone else having these issues.I been lookin gm trucks 2014 and newer .Anything else with more room
Well, I am almost as tall as you (5’ 11"), and I have owned compact cars and Caravans all my life. I have also driven many different types of work trucks, including Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Astro, Chevrolet Express, Ford Econoline, Ford Transit Connect, Toyota Tundra, Toyota Tacoma, and now a Ram ProMaster cargo van.
Though I never had difficulty getting in and out of any of these vehicles, some had a very uncomfortable driver’s seat. The worst was the Ford Econoline. My back hurt so bad from driving that work truck that I quit my job when the employer refused to provide a different work vehicle.
I currently own a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 regular cab, among other vehicles, and can attest that this model offers plenty of room for the driver and passenger, and can even accommodate a third person in the middle. My wife and son can comfortably fit in the passenger and middle seat without any difficulty.
Tyrus (wrestler) is 6’7" at 375# and has often talked about driving his F-150 everywhere and loves it… But yeah, I think you need to focus on full size trucks and or SUV’s and see which one fits you the best…
Really happy with 2017 GMC Acadia Limited, more legroom than I can handle, Easy in and out, got one with towing package. 2017 last year of limited, Acadia is a whole nother animal. One feature it puts the seat all the way back, then tou hit a button to return to your saved settings.
Cadillac Escalade or Ford Expedition
This topic has been discussed pretty extensively on Best of Car Talk podcasts regarding caller Daniel Pinkwater. His solution was a BMW 7 series car.
One of my dimensional-challenged friends decided on a Ford Expedition. Fits him well, and as a passenger I can report an excellent ride quality. But remember I’m comparing to a 30 year old Corolla and 50 year old truck … … lol …
Drop by a CarMax and try out everything that interests you. Some large cars are surprisingly tight, some small cars surprisingly roomy. Only you can pick.
Very true, I had a couple of friends (married) that were both very large and tall people and they had a Scion XB that had a lot of head room and they loved all the room it had… I was very surprised at how much room was in that tiny little vehicle… lol
