I own a 2005 saturn vue. Whenever you go down a rough gravel road there is a rattle pretty constant the whole time, can feel in the steering wheel. You get the same rattle going 55+ and applying the brakes. The car also has a very might clunking when going at low speeds in town on rough road.
I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong with this car. Me and a friend both have jacked it up and checked everything with a pry bar, shook on everything, I’ve gotten it aligned.
I’m think possibly the cheap eBay struts that are 2 years old, or something is going on with the brakes. Pins rattling and sticking? Stops great though.
This has been a problem for a while feel free to ask questions I know I typed this kind of quick.
When younreplaced the struts, how were the strut mounts? Good shape? Or were they replaced at the same time? If they were not replaced, I would suggest that they are strating to go bad.
The whole assembly was replaced with some brand called leacree or something like that.
The lower ball joints have been replaced but not the whole control arm. Two motor mounts have been replaced but not the other two from where I’m getting the rattle. Sway bar links new all the way around.
My plan is this, replace struts and control arms and rear shocks, get alignment.
Replace brakes and hardware on all four wheels, bleed brakes.
Lastly replace my other two motor mounts.
OR I’ll just take it to the shop and ask them what they think.
Spend about 100.00 to 125.00 at a shop and find out just what you actually need .
