Leaky water pump

My wife’s 2000 Grand Caravan has a leaky water pump. My question is can I just install a new seal on it or should I just replace the pump?

Yes, it should be replaced. For no extra labor, and only a relatively small parts price, you will have pretty good assurance of protection from water pump failure for the remaining life of the vehicle.

Incidentally, if that vehicle has the 2.4 liter engine, and if the timing belt has never been changed, it is now overdue for this vital maintenance. Rather than postponing that job, you will save a lot on labor costs if this is done at the same time as the water pump is installed.

VDC has given you excellent advice as usual and I agree 100%.

I can’t even think of anything to add. How disappointing!!
