last week a young lady had a problem with her car bucking and refusing to accelerate, felt like the trans was bouncing. I had a simular problem with a mercury comet in 1970. The car was a 1960 model. I bought the car in this condition because I was sure it was not the trans.First I changed the U joints, then the fuel filter and fuel pump, no luck. The engine also had a clickity clack noise so I poured in top oil. One rainy night with the car in the garage (door open) and engine running I lifted the hood. There were blue streaks running up and down the plug wires! Replace the wires and distributer cap and the that solved all of the problems.
