I have seen variants on this at other sites. When people first join they post a “hello” and then 5-10 people post back “welcome to our site”. As with any business, growth is mandantory and for us growth means new members and we should try and make them fell as comfortable as possible. My idea is simply the result of a “brainstorm” so it certainly can be modified. I am going for a more “community” atmosphere. The motivation for my brainstorm was me analyzing the value of "Top 20 Top 250 ratings and the fact that we have lost several critical members lately (hellokit comes to mind). If we are going to value the long time members we can try and do something for new people, this is my line of thought.
