I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty 4x4 Diesel. Recently, it has started making a thumping sound in the front right tire area when I turn left. It does this mostly when I’m turning at approx 20mph or above. It almost sounds like the tire is catching something when I turn but I can’t find anything that would be catching. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
First have someone drive very slowly away from you while you carefully watch the tread. If it seems to wave as they drive it is the tyre and it needs to be replaced. Likely that will mean you also should replace the other side to keep the tread the same and emergency handling proper. On Some AWD cars (I don’t think yours is) it may require replacing all four tyres to keep the AWD mechanism from self destructing.
Good Luck
That sounds like a front CV joint to me. Assuming that it’s under warrantee, I would bring it to the dealer.
