i just bought a 1980 jeep cj5 that has been played with excessivley it has at 1975 6 cyl and huge tires i need to replace the shocks but i cant tell if it has had a lift kit or not how can you tell
You’re asking if it’s lifted? Well, your first tip off is that it has big tires. I mean this isn’t hard-take a look underneath and see if some sort of a spacer has been added. If you’re not sure what things should look like- refer to images on the Internet.
I hope you didn’t buy a project beyond your abilities, as your question would suggest, because this car will need lots of work to stay road worthy no matter what kind of shape its in.
