Stuff like that happens a lot when I work on the mid 80’s Honda scooters I accumulate. Honda parts are rarely available, and when they are they’re so expensive it’s hard to justify buying them. I needed a CDI for a 90 Elite 250 scooter, and found what may have been the last one available new from Honda, at $165 or so. I went on Ebay and found one that seemed exactly the same, for $9.00. You know which one I bought. When it showed up, I plugged it in, and like you held my breath and hit the starter, and VOOM! It ran perfectly, and has for about 3 years. I ordered another one right away, not trusting that the one I was using would last. But it has.
