Is start/stop hard on my 2002 Honda CR-V?

Is the “start / stop” feature on new cars (automatic turning off of the engine when the car is stopped, such as at a stop sign, then starting up again) hard on the starter, battery, and mileage? It seems useful for long stops, but for residential driving with very short stops? Can the driver over-ride this feature?

Some vehicles the feature can be turned off . But it has to be done each time the vehicle is started. Also the battery and starter and meant for this. Are you asking if it is harder on mileage ? No , it is to give better miles per gallon .
