Ignition Lock

I have a 2002 Saab 9-3. I tried starting it this morning but the key won’t move from the locked position at all! What should I do? The steering wheel doesn’t seem to be locked and I had the battery changed not to long ago.

Saab has the key in the console? Seems as they fail due to stuff getting into them. The battery could be dead or the clutch or transmission neutral switch that releases the ignition lock could be bad.

The key inserts smoothly. Should I get it towed or try a mobile mechanic who can do a computer check?

It’s not a computer problem, it’s a problem for a mobile locksmith…Where is the key located? In the steering column or the center console?

center console

Dealership or locksmith. Be sure to tell the locksmith it’s a Saab…
