I watched the Mike Wallace interview of Ayn Rand and wonder how long current libertarians would remain followers if they saw her and heard her opinions.

I grew up seeing this curly-haired guy selling Camels

To keep it car-related

I always liked the Camel guy images better than the Marlboro guy images

Maybe its a safety issie having those hang off the rear bumper

Such as? Never read atlas shrugged but think Orwell is more relevant. In minnefornia our legislature is in a hot debate on whether to make jay walking a criminal offense. Seems to me the problem is self correcting. Kind of a law of nature.

Maybe you can explain how it’s a safety issue

Thanks

The nuts in question have been around for about 25 years, haven’t seen any for quite a while. Seems the novelty has worn off. So now Idaho passes a law, their legislators must have solve all the other problems.
There used to be signs at the Utah border (not set up by the state). “Welcome to Utah, set your watch back 20 years”.

So they are just now reaching Idaho.

Why do you think current libertarians are not aware of Ayn Rand and this interview?

I know a few Libertarians who don’t know or want to know any details like that. I guess I assume they are indicative of most Libertarians. Certainly Rand’s atheist position is totally contrary to Libertarians I know.

Going into Arizona and California there are agriculture inspections. Will Idaho set up nut inspection stations?

They may or may not be aware of that interview, but I have to wonder how many present-day Libertarians realize what a hypocrite she was. After decades of railing against Social Security and Medicare as “immoral”, in her later years, she collected Social Security payments, and used Medicare to pay for her medical care.

Ayn Rand rejected classical libertarianism. Her philosphy was called Objectivism which was athiest at its core. Libertarians connection to Rand centers around her book Atlas Shrugged which is a condemnation of socialism and its authoritarian controls.

I see breasts all over every farm. Disgusting. We really need to address plans to put bras on cows. And dogs? Disgusting. The males always hanging their nuts everywhere. We should puts jock straps on them.

And, the fruit farmers need to cover up the crotches on their trees. That type of pornographic display can be seen by impressionable children!

Well just to clarify. I do not belong or subscribe to that party. I have never read her stuff and am sure I wouldn’t agree with lots of what she said.

When I took the test some years ago on where I fit on the continueum, my positions were mainly leave people alone and quit trying to control everything people want to do. I will usually support freedom over laws, restrictions, or common sense. I want people that hurt or cheat others off the street yesterday. But I want people being forced to drive their lawn mower to the store left alone.

Yeah one morning I saw a guy driving his mower to Walmart. He had a trailer attached with a topper on it and the wife inside because it was raining. Leave the old guy alone or buy him lunch. If that fits your pigeon hole, so be it and take my eye test.

“criminalizes the public exposure of breasts.” Thank God no shirtless guys! For the electricians, be careful!

Do you think that Idaho has the balls to do that?

How long will this post last? :face_with_tongue:
