I love Corvettes, but this is absurd

IMO because the new owner could take possession immediately rather than waiting a year or two to order one. As large as that auction was, there must be a very large number of car hobbyists with a heck of a lot of money.

Still unknown if this was a Chevy dealer selling the car or a buyer flipping for a profit. When you pick up a Z06 you sign an agreement to keep it at least 6mo or there’s no warranty to the 2nd owner.

It just goes to show the strong demand and exclusivity of the c8 Corvette. People are willing to pay a premium to get their hands on this incredible machine. It’s not uncommon to see passionate collectors who are willing to invest a considerable amount of money in acquiring their dream cars. The high demand for the C8 Corvette, coupled with the desire for instant gratification, can drive prices well above the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP).

Cough Cough Toyota

But seriously, the rise in MSRP has been a thing in almost any brand. Toyota, is one of them. They once asked for $50,000 MSRP for a RAV4. I think VW is also another example of a brand that charged over MSRP.
