Sometimes it is not HOA, simply Codes…
Not to get flagged again for being on or off topic, but covenants go with the deed for a particular property. Codes are ordinances of the city, etc. an hoa is a control group also in the deed for a designated group of properties. Hoa can be good or bad and few ways to get rid of them. Our covenants generally ran for 25 years or could be altered by the majority of property owners. I could do that originally since me and the developer were the only owners.
Yeah I know I’ll get taken to task for unprecise language. So sue me.
I have no idea who’s flagging you, fwiw
We’ve all been off-topic, so I don’t know why you are being singled out
as for working on cars in driveways, not too many people in my neighborhood do it, but I have no problem with it, as long as there’s no loud noise late at night
what I DO have a problem with are neighbors who have loud parties multiple times per week, lasting until 2am or so. And they tend to have these parties in their backyard, so all the other neighbors have to “enjoy” them, as well
What’s even more concerning is that these neighbors have school-age children, and I’m of the opinion that kids should be well-rested when they arrive for school, not dead-tired because their parents were loudly partying until 2am or so
Keeping it car related lol, I have never lived in a HOA neighborhood and hope to never have to live in one, but I have had codes called on me a couple of time, once for having 16 extra vehicles on a 1 acre lot with no privacy fence, yeah I got carried away… another was my Duster that I was about to start building… But as long as the vehicle being worked on is in the garage, I have never had an issue…
BTW: I never even saw your post until flagged… Now I am curious as to what I missed and why is was so bad… lol
I don’t know why you should you are just telling it as it is.
HUH? Synthetic oil has been around for decades. Probably before you were born.
I agree with @Mustangman 's first reply to this thread. the attitude is not worth it.
Sorry MikeInNH, didn’t mean to tag you sir…
More than 40 years ago, Mobil 1™ motor oil was introduced, making it the first globally available full synthetic automotive motor oil. Though it was originally released to safely enhance fuel efficiency, later formulations of Mobil 1 motor oil offered outstanding wear protection over the widest range of temperatures.
Now, more than four decades later, Mobil 1 remains the world’s leading synthetic motor oil brand. It has pushed forward the boundaries of automotive lubricant technology, evolving and improving to keep engines running like new, mile after mile, since 1974. From its important role in the world of motorsports to its many scientific breakthroughs, the Mobil 1 brand has a rich story with plenty of significant landmarks. Our history in a nutshell:
Early 1960’s
Product: Synthetic Mobilgrease™ 28 developed to prevent military plane wheel bearings from failing during landings in cold temperatures. Still used in aircraft applications worldwide.
Late 1960’s
Product: Mobil™-branded synthetic oil technology used to develop engine oil for big diesel engines powering oil-drilling rigs on Alaska’s North Slope in temperatures as low as -40˚C.
1971
Product: New Concept Engine Oil Team created to develop the first Mobil 1 fully synthetic motor oil — achieving far superior properties than those of conventional oils.
1973
Product: Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil is released in Europe, becoming an instant hit among car enthusiasts and owners of expensive high-performance cars. Formulation changes are made to test a fuel-saving 5W-20 grade in the USA, which becomes Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil.
1974
Product: Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil is commercially introduced in the USA — setting new standards in lubrication technology.
Thanks for the history lesson. After a while for some of us it just becomes a fog. Then at some point between the 70s and 2000, it was comparing the cost between syn and Dino and was it cost justified. Then I guess after that the price came down and new cars pretty much required a zero or 5 weight, ushering in mass syn use. There was a time when we even wondered if it was harmful to use in an older engine.
All in all I just have to say fir myself I haven’t really had an issue either way. I use Dino in the older and syn in the newer. More importantly I change oil at 3000 and 5000 which I think is more important.
Wow. All I can say is wow. So I get flagged a second time for the same comment that was flagged before as off topic but left all the other preceding off topic comments alone. You can be sure though if I flag a comment which is rare, I will tell why and identify myself. Just a note though it is hard to discuss the auto workers strike and resulting new car costs without touching in unions and inflation.
