How to safely remove window tint residue from windows?

Every state has a time limit for exception permits. Here a handicap plate is only good for a certain time.

If the factory tint and dark glasses are not enough then you don’t belong on the road anyway.

@njauto973_194228 You didn’t have to delete the whole thing, just edit the post to remove the business ID. Can you put everything back but the business name? As I said, worthwhile information.

He doesn’t want to be a member of your club, I don’t think anyone does.

We deal with this all the time, especially on commercial vehicles here in New Jersey - they can’t pass state inspection with tint on the front driver or passenger windows, so removal is a must before the MVC or DOT check.

Our go-to method:

  • Garment steamer** to soften the adhesive and help peel the film off cleanly.
  • Then use 50% rubbing alcohol and a clean rag to remove any leftover residue.

No harsh scraping needed — just patience and a little heat. Leaves the glass clean and streak-free.

Looking forward to hearing more from you…

I welcomed a new poster, thanked h8m for his useful information, and asked him to remove an ad. What’s wrong with that?

I couldn’t figure out how to edit, only seen option to delete.

Below your post next to the word reply you should see what looks like a slanted pencil. Click on it and you should be able to edit.

You edited your post twice before you deleted it. You must refresh the screen in order to view the edit, the forum has been malfunctioning for a year.

Too late, Ms cdaquila already removed the post…
