How do I reset the Service Engine Soon light? I broke the MAP sensor and the light came on. Replaced it with a new one and now I like to get rid of the light. The car is a 97 Buick Park Avenue. Thanks
Disconnect the battery, negative pole for a few minutes. If the light should come on again after a while, your problem is still there
You will need to go to Autozone or Advance Auto to have them clear the codes with a code scanner. Otherwise, it will take a few days before the computer will clear the code automatically if it is truly fixed.
The light might go off by itself if you’ve corrected the problem. If it doesn’t, disconnect the negative battery cable for about 30 minutes. If you need a security code for your radio, make sure you have it BEFORE you disconnect the battery.
