Oldschool, I would not feel to to terribly bad if I were you. Sure, nobody, including myself wants conflict and all those who say to let it roll of your back are speaking a certain amount of truth. But there are times when defense is needed and this was one of those times. Nobody can possibly ignore all conflicts all the time and, I am repeating, sometimes you have to stand up, loosen the collar button and roll up the sleeves (figuratively speaking). One cannot do this every time or that person will assume the position of the bully.
