How does this tire even hold air with a rim like that?

I parked next to a car that had both passenger side rims severely dented on the edge (like someone picked up the rim and hit the edge on a curb). I don’t know how the tires could hold air with damage like that.

The tire bead is just barely still sealed.

Looks like maybe an inner tube was used. The angle on the valve looks a bit odd.

It looks like if they hit any type of pothole the tire would go flat (if there was no inner tube used).

The owner of that car is either woefully ignorant of what’s going on or has a death wish.

Maybe it is filled with that miracle nitrogen gas that is getting promoted over air for tires?
