I SOMEHOW MANAGED TO GET A PENNY LODGED IN THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER SOCKET OF MY CAR, WILL THIS CAUSE ANY DAMAGE OR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM OTHER THAN NOT BEING ABLE TO CHARGE MY PHONE?
it certainly could, but getting it out could cause problems too. Pull the cig lighter fuse and then extract it.
Step #1 get the power to that plug off.
Step #2 make sure the power is off.
Step #3 recheck #2
I would likely get a roll of strong duct tape and use it to help you out. You might need to wrap it around a pencil or some such tool. I have a large selection of tools on hand so if one does not work, I can just find something else.

This could start a fire, which would ruin your whole day.
Pull the fuse to the lighter socket, then remove the penny.
Turn off your caps.
Push on one side of the penny.it will turn.then will needle nose pliers pull the penny out. Lighter socket is fused and at worst you will have to replace a fuse. Beter yet lets find that fuse and pull it out first.This will keep it from causing problems. Again…push on one side of the penny it should turn…then grab it with needle nose. Pull lighter fuse first
