Very sad, those people did not have to die.
There is more to that story than we’ve heard, and maybe we’ll never hear the entire story because the people involved are dead. I find it very hard to believe that an experienced highway patrol officer didn’t have any more presence of mind than was shown in this case. What was happening before the phone call?
I have heard that the car was a rental, so the driver was not familiar with the car and I’m sure that contributed to the situation, but even so there is a lot of information missing as to what really happened.
