I am replacing the hood and hood latch on a 1997 Escort. I got it all finished, and found that the cable seems to have pulled out, and will no longer operate the release mechanism. That is when I pull on the release, nothing happens. Is there a way to adjust this cable?
The latch release cable pulled out? As in disconnected and the hood is closed?
If the cable pulled loose from the interior release handle you should be able to adjust it after it is hooked back up.
If the cable came free under the hood and the hood is locked shut, you may have a real problem accessing the latch.
Length adjustment can be set at either end.
Just ensure one end is attached first.
