Here's something else to worry about, road violence

We have Florida Man
 sometimes he carries a gun
sometimes he meets another Florida Man with a gun

What goes around comes around, I guess.

I really I have better things to worry about than the prospect of the Seven Riders of the Apologist descending on my Hyundai.

The reality is that idiots and fools have always existed, certainly 50 years ago when I was an idiot kid, and I have no reason to believe that it won’t continue forever.
I’m certainly not defending them and they certainly deserve whatever is coming to them, including “a good thrashing” or a “stint in juvenal hall”, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to let the idiots determine what I do with MY life.

But more important, my concerns are seeing that my grandchildren have the opportunity for a quality public education, that the education provides a path to a remunerative trade/college career.

There are a good many people out there suffering from mental illness. Drugs are not helping either. Articles like this from the esteemed USA paper seem to play into the hands of these people making them seem normal. Keep it up media. What could go wrong? Hadn’t heard of a rock being thrown off an overpass in a long time.

As sad and scarry as this is, and it needs to be stopped and delt with to the max degree, it is nothing new, kids having throwing rocks off bridges at cars for a very long time, I remember hearing about it when I was a kid, sick in the head idiots have been shooting at cars for ever also

Sorry but this is just recycled news, copy cat (killers) people that aren’t smart enough to come up with something new
It will still be happening as long as humans are still roaming the earth and have a free will
If they are just wanting to terrorize people and you let them terrorize you, then they win

And unfortunately talking about it on an open forum only fuels their sickness, cause now we are talking about it. And they are winning, in their sick little minds

I recall being shocked by an incident, sometime back in the '70s, wherein a group of pre-teens took a large bundle of newspapers that had become soaked with water and then became frozen, and dropped it from an overpass onto a car driving on I-280.

The rock-hard bundle of newspapers went through the windshield of a car, and it resulted in the elderly driver having a heart attack. He lost control of the car, and both he and his elderly wife died in the crash that resulted.

Shortly after that tragedy, the state highway department began installing these fences along overpasses:

OOOOOH! The sky is falling! Vote for me! I’ll take care of this very quickly.

And, on a more serious note, this forum is about cars, not popular baloney.

Today, on the taconic pky, I saw two cars going at each other. Turned out that the car behind the other was frustrated over the fact the car in front wouldn’t go 1mph over the speed limit and was holding up traffic.

How do you know that? Perhaps the car behind was merely trying “to save a dying person who needed a blood transfusion
” But you wouldn’t know anything about that, would you?

About one year ago, there was a road rage incident in my town, and after an extensive investigation and a court trial, the guilty party now faces up to 10 years in the NJ Penitentury. First, this idiot struck the other driver’s mirror with his hand, and he followed that up by firing two shots into the victim’s car. Ironically, the fingerprints that he left on that mirror led to his apprehension:

On the way to the clinic today I got behind a guy going 20 in a 30. Went on for a mile and saw he was on his phone. I had lots of time but I commented it was good I wasn’t bleeding all over stuck behind this guy. Plenty of other side roads to take if you want to drive that slow.

I think the most inconsiderate guys are the ones going 55 on the freeway in the middle or left lanes, when everyone else is comfortably going 75 or 80

That’s the ‘American way’!

“No metal sign on a pole is gonna tell me how fast I’m allowed to drive!”

My old Hometown Newspaper, the Times Union in Albany, NY, carries highlights of articles from 50 and 100-years ago
The articles from long, long ago are the most amusing

This thread, “Here’s something else to worry about, road violence” needs to show that it “road rage” is nothing new and in years gone by, it was done for fun, even “gleefully
”

They’re not just inconsiderate. They are actually present a genuine safety hazard.

A few years ago, I was tooling-along with the rest of the traffic on I-287, at the prevailing speed of 75 or so, when there was suddenly a sea of brake lights and a temporary traffic backup. It turned-out that a very old guy (even older than I am ) was driving his new-ish Bentley Continental in the center lane at ~55 mph. He seemed oblivious to the situation that was taking place around him.

I’ve driven all over this country and Boston is by far the left-lane driving capital of the world. A lot of it has to do with the highways themselves. Entrance and exits less then 1/4 mile apart - if you’re in the right lane you’d be constantly braking or moving over. But the drivers still drive over to the left even when in wide open highway. It’s extremely annoying and extremely DANGEROUS.

One would not be constantly braking or moving over in the RH lane if they WEREN’T SPEEDING.
