I have a 1996 Ford Aerostar van with about 100,000 miles on it. Very recently it has begaun to give my wife a problem when she drives it. She will back out of the drive way, put the van into drive and it acts as if it is in neutral, she tries to shift back into reverse or any other gear and it will still act as if in neutral. This has only happened when she drives it, never me. And it seems to happen when the van has been parked in the garage for a period of time, such as overnight. Any ideas out there?

First, check the fluid level and condition as per the instructions in the owner’s manual.
