Headliner

My wonderful 98 Beetle, which is black, is giving me a problem: the headliner is sagging. How can I fix it? (I am aware that it gets awfully hot under that black roof).

This topic shows up from time to time (try the search function). When the experts here chime in they’ll tell you everything from (“Use this magic glue” to “Staple it – who cares what it looks like?”

I had this problem with two different (old) cars. For me, it was worth the $250 or so to have an automobile upholstery shop do it right.

If you want it too look like new, take the car to an auto upholstery shop and write a check.

If you just want the headliner to stay up, upholstery screws (available at any fabric store) work very well for a buck or two.
