GM and EVgo are cooperating in the construction of 400 large, covered charging stations that will accomodate the charging connector of any EV. Additionally, they are configured so that EVs that are towing a trailer can be accomodated.

Finally, a desperately needed configuration… from a company that makes EV trucks.
I don’t see the charging standard that EVGo uses. Is it CCS or Tesla? The last time I looked at them it was CCS and anyone with a Tesla receptacle in their car would need an adapter for CCS.
I read more than one article on this topic, and at least one of the articles stated that these stations would accomodate all charging connectors/protocols. Presumably, that means both CCS and J1772.
I have to admit that I don’t know if there are any other standards besides CCS and J1772.
CCS and J1772 use the same plugs. J1772 does level 1 and 2 charging while CCS adds level 3. DC charging requires the DC charging pins while J1772 does not. The level 1 and 2 pins are the same for both.
Tesla chargers use NACS which will be included in the Hyundai Ioniq5 for 2025 with a CCS adaptor for chargers that don’t have a Tesla connection. The EV GO charger’s closest to me are CCS or J1772 chargers at various levels. It’s not a huge distance from where we sometimes stop for lunch on the way home from Seattle or points north.
I’m glad to see GM stepping up their game in the charging infrastructure. The fact that these stations will work with any EV, not just GM models, is a smart move. It’ll help more folks feel confident about making the switch to electric.

They work with any EV with the proper adapter. GM uses the J1772 protocol for Levels 1 and 2, and CCS for fast charging. There are adapters for Teslas to use J1772, but my limited experience using CCS fast chargers showed that I didn’t have access to CCS fast charging for my Tesla despite having in the correct adapter. No knock on the GM charging system, just an explanation of the differences someone has to deal with.
