2004 Canyon, rear brakes squeal and grab, and occasionally stick. I know its the semi-metallic rear shoes, is there a cure for this condition?
Do you use your parking brake?
Machine the drums
Measure the diameter first, to make sure you won’t be out of spec after machining
Replace the shoes
Adjust the shoes
If you have ANY doubt as to the condition of the axle seals, replace them. Leaky seals will quickly contaminate the linings, and that will also cause grabbing
BTW this is not uncommon on your truck
Make sure the primary shoe is toward the front and secondary is at the rear. I’ve seen them reversed a lot of times.
