i have a 1989 1/2 ton gmc pickup v-8. it has e gas in the tank (been sitting for 5 years (Aprox.) got the engine to turn and fire. it seems to flud out when i push on the gas. i pulled, cleaned and re gapped all the plugs. could the gas be bad or?

Sure thing. Gas usually has about a 6 month shelf life. Not unusual for it to be OK, at one year, but not five years.
Expect to remove all the gas, and clean the entire fuel system. There are exceptions when someone gets away with five year old fuel, but it is not common.
After five years, it would be very surprising if the gas weren’t bad.
