my son has a nessian Altma 1996 4 lt automatic needs to replace fuel senser in fuel tank can he do it him self/ a mechanic gave him price of $ 500???
Pull the rear seat up and check if there’s an access cover to the fuel pump assembly. If not, then the gas tank needs to be dropped.

The sensOR is often part of the fuel pump. Whether its excessive or not partly depends on the parts cost and how much it is marked up. If it can all be done via the rear seat then I wouldn’t pay $500 for it. How about getting a second quote?
