I have a 2002 Outback with 98000 miles. I am running conventional oil. How many miles between oil changes?

Personally I wouldn’t go more then 5k miles…but that’s just me.
My Subaru does well on 5K oil changes, conventional or blend. It has 142K and counting using this choice. If I remember correctly, unless you have a turbo, Subaru recommends 7500 mi if not engaged in severe service applications.
Look in the owner’s manual. The requirements for your specific model and year may be different than others.
The owner’s manual rules! Of course, it will tend to be on the conservative side. You should be able to at least 5000 miles between changes.
