I am considering getting dual exhaust on my 1998 Ford Se Sedan in the next 3-4 months. Does anybody have any sound clips of one with a magnaflow or flowmaster on it. I do not want the bumblebee can sounding ones. I want my car to have a nice rumble to it. If I do not get duals I still want to get a good sounding muffler possibly.
I don’t have any specific experience with your desired set up but had some concern that what you are trying to achieve might not be possible. I know quite a few people who spent large sums of money on exhaust systems trying to achieve their mental image of how it “should” sound only to be disappointed. Some even lost performance as well as their hard earned dollars.
I share your passion for exhaust note and specifically, rumble. That being said, you’re going to have a hard time getting a small displacement engine to produce a rumble or anything that doesn’t in some way resemble an angry insect. Rumble comes from large displacement, low revving engines with larger diameter exhaust pipes. Maybe we have different ideas of what constitutes a rumble. That’s why I think you’re on the right track in wanting to hear it first. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do!
I found a 98-99 with a magnaflow single exhaust on youtube. My problems would be trying to put duals on because it only has one hole for the exhaust to come out the back.
